SMR to provide on site Prima Testing

Seb LoveSMR have invested in a Prima 100 Lightweight deflectometer to offer an on-site testing service on customer SMR reinstatements. Newly promoted Technical Director, Seb Love, recently attended a course at Loughborough University in the use and theory behind the Prima 100 instrument to ensure that SMR can provide fully qualified trained personnel, with experience of both the product being tested and the instrument testing the product. This depth of knowledge is unique to SMR and as part of a quality control system, can help customers quickly identify and react to any issues in the use of SMR, saving thousands of pounds in potential defect costs due to poor compaction.

The Prima 100 provides information in Megapascals as opposed to CBR and is in line with current Highway Works design specifications.

In addition to quality checks, the Prima 100 can also be used to demonstrate to Highway Authorities that SMR reinstatements significantly outperform even the very best traditional reinstatements using Type 1 GSB.

The Prima 100 provides accurate information at depths down to 500mm in all reinstatements completed with SMR, with the exception of narrow trenches, since the poor quality of the virgin soil tends to compromise the SMR results. For these circumstances SMR offers the very latest Clegg Hammer testers, which calculate and display an equivalent CBR value. Whilst the Clegg only really tests the top 100mm of a reinstatement, it remains the most reliable and easy to use test method for narrow trenches without having to risk penetrating the surface and causing potential injury to personnel by striking buried apparatus.

This testing service is limited to SMR customers and is not designed to compete against specialist test houses in the open market. As such, our charge rates are extremely competitive as indicated below.

To carry out on-site Prima100 and/or Clegg Testing by trained personnel and provide comprehensive report into the results, findings and recommendations as appropriate.
